About us

Technology born in front of the artwork.

AerariumChain exists to give great collections a digital future: certified twins that help care for the works, share them and sustain them. We build the technology, but we grew up in the gallery.

The team

Half laboratory, half museum.

Engineers and developers work side by side with art historians, catalogers, conservators and archaeologists, from several countries. It is a deliberate mix: the pipeline is built by people who write code and by people who have handled artworks for a living.

It also means that whoever calls us, a museum, a collector, a foundation, always finds qualified people who speak their language and know their needs from the inside.

Our values

We respect art and the many cultures it speaks for.

We believe art remains one of the greatest testimonies of human history: even a few fragments can carry its message through time, past the fall of civilizations, wars, calamities, years and centuries. It lets us understand who we were, and who we are. Art can make us happy and hopeful, or stir feelings we would never find anywhere else: that is why it is so hard to define.

Our vision

Art in everyone's daily life, preserved for the generations to come.

We bring together technology, knowledge and people to preserve art for future generations and to carry it into everyone's daily life, alongside the other content we live with: for communities that are more aware and happier, for a better humanity.

Research and partners

We do not work alone.

We collaborate actively with research centers and universities on the science behind the twins: conservation, imaging, computer vision, archiving.

Centro Conservazione e Restauro La Venaria Reale

The restoration school and laboratories of Venaria Reale, where conservation practice meets our diagnostic tools.

CNR

Italy's National Research Council, on 3D data, analysis and applied mathematics for cultural heritage.

IIT · Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia

Joint work on advanced technologies applied to art and its preservation.

Centro Conservazione e Restauro La Venaria Reale CNR · Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia

Alongside them, we work with technology partners and hardware manufacturers across the capture and computing chain.

The collections

The rooms we have worked in.

A list of the collections we have worked for is being cleared for publication, institution by institution. In the meantime, the numbers speak: over 10,000 artworks scanned across 70+ collections.
